Artisan offers all of the major components required for a Virtual Organ.  They are offered in different packages that can be combined as needed.

The major items required are:

    A Console

    A Control System

    A Sound Engine, w/

        Linux Operating System

        Monitor

        j-Organ installed

    The Digital Voices

CONSOLES

Consoles are available in a variety of forms.  They can be a surplus pipe organ console, an older analog organ console, or a newly-built console designed specifically for Virtual Organ use.  The major requirement is that the keyboards and pedalboard are in suitable operating condition. If these are available to you, you can have an organ using sampled voices that is equivalent to any of the digital organs in the market place.

AND, at a fraction of the cost!

If the organ console used is from an electronic organ that has a basic audio system, that’s a plus.

Artisan also offers new consoles of either a theater or classic style.

CONTROL SYSTEM

The µMIDI Control System is an economical package to convert the keyboards and pedalboard to have MIDI OUT.  There are two versions of a MIDI Conversion Kit that can be readily installed.  One is for organs that have discrete contact closures, and another specifically for Allen MOS 1 and MOS 2 organs that use a matrix keying system.

SOUND ENGINE

The Sound Engine itself consists of three elements:  The computer with a Linux based operating system, special software for controlling the voices, and, of course, the voices themselves to be displayed on a Monitor.

THE VOICE OF THE ORGAN

Instead of providing specific Sample Sets, we are opening up our entire library for the user to select individual voices to match any desired Stop List.

In addition to Virtual Organs based on pipe organ samples from theater and classic organs, we also offer Virtual Organs utilizing Orchestral voices.  These can be combined with pipe organ ranks, or used to create an entirely exclusive orchestral digital organ: Combo, Jazz Ensemble, Big Band, or Symphonic Orchestra.  Thus, the selected Digital Ranks can be Theater, Classic, Orchestral, or a combination of all three.

The following Virtual Organ packages are highly customizable by the user, although we have supplied some suggested examples.  These packages are group in so-called 10 Rank Packages, but they actually cover a range of Digital Ranks, allowing for more flexibility of Stop List design.  Ranks are defined as any named rank (Tibia, etc.), or any Tuned Percussion (Glock, etc.).  Traps are defined as a group, whereby a group of any four traps is considered a “rank”.

Thus, the packages for a complete Virtual Organ might look like this.

      CLASSIC ORGANS

*

Classic Organs are a little more difficult to specify than Theater Organs for a variety of reasons:

Different voicing styles (Baroque, Romantic, English, American, etc.)

Predominantly Straight, or with some unification

Many name variations of a given voice

    Several Mixture ranks

However, we have a very extensive library of classic digital pipe organ ranks, and would be pleased to work with an individual or organ builder to provide packages comparable to the theater organ packages outlined above.

The selected ranks are priced the same as for the theater organ packages.

ORCHESTRAL ORGANS

We have a library of well over two hundred orchestral instruments, percussions, and choral voices.  These range from individual orchestral instruments to a complete orchestral section (i.e., a String Section).

From these, we can create any number of instrument ensembles played from a Virtual Organ console.

Here is a typical example:

Small, 9 Rank Combo Organ

Bass

Piano

Guitar

Accordion

Sax 1

Sax 2

Clarinet

Trumpet 1

Trumpet 2
